C07. THIS MAYOR AND HIS ADMINISTRATION

C7.:

Dear Wolfville Resident: VOTE FOR CHANGE!
Do you happen to know that the Municipal Government Act states in Section 22 (3) “no decision shall be made at a private council meeting …”?
  • Do you tolerate that this Mayor and this Council “breached the law” and made decisions in “in camera” sessions? How many more might there be beside this one?
  • Do you allow this Mayor and Council to provide Mr. Brideau, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), with salary increases up to the year 2011 despite the fact that Mr. Brideau’s Employment Contract with the Town states clearly that a full work performance evaluation every year will be the basis for maybe salary increases for the very next employment year?
  • Do you wish to ask this Mayor and Council why they decided to pay this year 15% and next year 18% of Mr. Brideau’s annual salary towards his retirement savings plan, while his Employment Contract with the Town states 5% only?
  • Do you accept that more than $100,000 a year (including the Town’s contributions to his pension plan) is paid to Mr. Brideau in his position as CAO in the Town of Wolfville with about 3,500 residents?
  • Do you know that Mr. Brideau has hired an “Executive Assistant” to do at least part of his job and that the salary of this assistant should be added to the total of the Town’s payments for the Chief Administrative Officer’s position?
  • Do you think that this Mayor and this Council have ignored their responsibilities and obligations towards you as a Wolfville resident and tax payer by misusing their given authority at least in this Brideau issue?
  • Don’t you deserve a new Mayor and new Councillors to get new visions, new ideas, new approaches and new attitudes to serve all Wolfville residents best in the future?
  • New candidates for Mayor are: Garry R. Balcom, Jeff Cantwell, George Townsend.

Candidates to choose six new Councillors from are: Ann Anderson, Peter Drummond, Eric Hughes, Keith Irving, Jim Laceby, Carl P. Oldham and Sheila G. Richardson.

Consider the re-election of Hugh Simpson as well. He seriously stood up for the concerns of the Wolfville’s residents, sometimes opposing all other Councillors.
